Embracing Autumn & the New Consciousness Shift

Autumn is nature’s annual TED Talk on surrender. The trees don’t book a therapy session to discuss their identity crisis before dropping their leaves—they just do it. Effortlessly. Gracefully. Zero drama.
Meanwhile, we’re over here white-knuckling old beliefs, outdated behaviours, and expired to-do lists with the tenacity of a toddler gripping their favourite toy.
But here’s the truth: this season is an invitation—not just to wear cosy jumpers and pretend we like pumpkin spice—but to release. To trust the shedding. To stop clinging to the old paradigm like it’s going to make a comeback (spoiler alert: it’s not).
Surfing the New Consciousness Without Capsizing
There’s a lot shifting right now. If you’re feeling weird, wobbly, hyper-sensitive or vaguely convinced you’re turning into a werewolf… congratulations, you’re not broken—you’re evolving.
This wave of new consciousness is dissolving the structures that never really fit us anyway. Perfectionism, overachieving, people-pleasing—they’re all part of the “Old Earth Starter Pack,” and frankly, it’s time to unsubscribe.
So what now? We ride the wave—but with snacks, grounding tools, and a sense of humour.
5 Tips to Stay Grounded (and Mostly Sane) as the World Reboots
1. Make Shedding an Event - Create a mini ritual. Light a candle, write down what you're done with (e.g. “Performing emotional labour for strangers on the internet”), and burn it. Safely. Ideally not on your wooden kitchen table.
2. Upgrade Your Nervous System First - Before manifesting your best life, regulate your nervous system. Otherwise, you’re just stress-vision boarding. Think: breathwork, weighted blankets, or standing barefoot on grass like a confused druid.
3. Gently Tell Your Inner Overachiever to Sit Down - It’s OK if you're not “thriving” right now. The trees aren’t blooming in autumn either—and no one’s accusing them of laziness.
4. Touch the Earth. Literally - Barefoot walks. Tree hugging. Holding a mug like it’s a life raft. Anything that brings you out of your brain and back into your body.
📖 5. Create a “To Be” List - Instead of a to-do list that makes you question your life choices, try:
To be calm.
To be curious.
To be slightly less reactive when Mercury goes retrograde.
Letting Go is the New Black
Releasing isn’t a failure—it’s a feature. We don’t shed because we’re weak. We shed because we’re wise.
This autumn, instead of gripping your old patterns like they owe you money, try this:
Breathe.
Surrender.
Laugh at your ego’s dramatic attempts to stay relevant.
You're not falling apart—you’re falling into alignment. Gracefully. (Or not. Honestly, both are valid.)
Journal Prompts for the Season
What am I gripping that’s gripping me back?
Where could I soften instead of strive?
What would flow look like if I trusted it for five minutes?
Cosy Ritual Suggestion
Wrap yourself in something soft (this is a serious special interest for my neuro-divergence). Make a cup of something warm. Pull an oracle card, or stare into a candle like you're in a mystical music video. Ask:“What part of me is ready to fall away? What part is rising in its place?”
This season isn’t about productivity. It’s about presence. It’s not about pushing—it’s about pausing. It’s the art of becoming more you… with fewer layers of nonsense on top.
And if all else fails, eat something cinnamon-flavoured and start again tomorrow.
